Some Notes On Backpacking Through Europe

Flying overseas to Europe usually means paying a high cost for your airfare. However, with just a little planning and perseverance, a person should be able to travel to any of the towns in Europe inexpensively.

Just take a look at the following list of hints:

1. The Internet, a vast jungle full of discounted plane tickets to Europe. Search it for yourself. You can try researching all the major and minor airline prices, and you would be surprised to see such huge differences in price for certain airlines.

2. Use connecting flights instead of non-stop flights. Once more, now is a great time to do a little study and seek out the places you can get a connecting plane from the U.S. to any place in Europe.

3. Don?t use first class and business seats. What you want to do is get to Europe the cheapest way you can. First Class and business sets might cost two times more than coach. You shouldn?t worry about whether or not people will look down on you for sitting in the back of the aircraft. What the heck, you still will get there at the exact time and arrive in the exact place as those who paid a higher cost.

4. Off-season flights. Out of season flying is always priced low, and many know that airlines in Europe are most affordable over the winter, albeit at the expense of some drastic snowfall.

5. Adjust your travel plans to take longer flights. You can get to Europe without it costing as much cash by flying into Europe on the lowest cost airfare you can find, then going the rest of the way to whatever place you want to be via train or bus service. The drawback is that depending on where you land, it could be a very long trip, especially if, for instance, you want to travel to Moscow and your plane goes to one of the Western towns in Europe. But this can be an advantage too, because you get to visit other countries and have fun enjoying the view as you go.

6. Look for slow days. It would be beneficial to plan a flight on a Tuesday or Wednesday, because arriving in Europe on a Sunday is no different than arriving on Tuesday.

7. Go home on slow days. Taking arrival days a step further, you can save even more on the travel expense if you plan to leave for home on Tuesday or Thursday (slow days).

?I shall bring only one guide book, not one for each country that I MIGHT see.?

9. Consider round-trip tickets. Obviously round-trip was created for people who know they will be coming home as a way to save money on airfares.

For female travelers and, okay, the occasional male, ?I will not bring high heels or a gaggle of make-up.?

11. Wait for good prices. We all arrive in the same plane – save some more money and try to wait for the flight to be at its lowest price.

12. Pay with your time. By informing the airport that you can be bumped to the next flight, you could get a discounted flight at the expense of waiting for the next plane to be ready,

Resourceful backpackers will send items away (nice things to people you like, particularly smelly/discolored/toxic clothing to people you hate), or just throw items away. Either way, following these practical guidelines will give you a happy experience.

1. Walk around the airport and see if you can find travelers who have decided not to take their trips. Try to purchase their tickets for the cheapest rate. But watch out! If the name on the ticket isn?t the same as what is on your own passport, don?t do it. It only works if the names match.

Now comes something you?ll want to keep in mind. You might forget special moments of your trip: meting the hunk Sven or babe Svenetta from Sweden and the adventures around it.

You might lose the contact information of people you meet, despite meticulously writing it down on the back of an available thing to write on, as it will end up destroyed at the bottom of your trashed backpack.
