Pregnancy after Tubal Reversal - 5 Steps to Be Safe

Finding out what you do for pregnancy after tubal reversal is one of the things many women researching this type of surgery will want to know. Are the steps you have to take in your early pregnancy ones you can handle easily? Just keep on reading to know what steps you will need for a pregnancy after tubal reversal.

First off, as with any woman, if your period is late you will want to start with a pregnancy test. There are two types - a blood test administered at your doctor’s office and a urine test which you can take at home. Since home pregnancy tests are about 97% accurate, you will most likely want to start there.

Now, there two answers you can get from a test. One is that you are pregnant and one that you are not. It could be, however, that you are simply testing a bit too early. If you get a negative indicator on the test but still show signs of being pregnant, you should test again in a couple days. Or you could go on in to your doctor and have the blood pregnancy test done as it will “read” the indicators sooner.

Finding out you are definitely pregnant is where the real testing begins. Every two or three days you should have your human chorionic gonadotropin, or HCG as we will call it from here on out, levels checked. This is the protocol established by Dr. Gary Berger, the top tubal reversal doctor.

Once your HCG level in your blood hits about 1500, you will need to go in for an ultrasound. You doctor will be trying to locate the gestational sac within your uterus.

If that ultrasound does not show the gestational sac or it is unclear, you will need to have your HCG level and another ultrasound done again in a couple days. It’s possible the sac will be unclear till you reach a HCG level of about 2500.

Within about a week of the gestational sac showing up another ultrasound should show the yolk sac. This will be yet another indication that this is truly an uterine pregnancy.

The reason for all the testing and ultrasounds is really quite simple. After a tubal reversal, there is an increased chance of an ectopic pregnancy by 10-15%. You are testing to be sure you are really pregnant and that the egg has implanted in the uterus. You don’t want it to be developing in your tube. You especially don’t want that after having gone through the surgery to reconnect your tubes. They hold the promise of your future children. If it turns out to be an ectopic pregnancy, you want to know right away so steps can be taken to make it all safer for you and your tube.

All of the above is the recommended protocol of Dr. Gary Berger who, as we told you, is the leading tubal reversal surgeon in the world. Women come from all over the world to have him do the tubal anastomosis. If you are fortunate enough to have him as your surgeon, and he is certainly as affordable as any other and more than qualified, you will find you have one more step in the pregnancy after tubal reversal protocol. That is to submit the Pregnancy Report as soon as you test positive and to keep the office updated as to your progress. He or his staff are available to answer any questions you may have. He continues to help you even after the surgery is complete.
