Breaking free from chemical addictions

Whether you are a parent of a teen who is addicted to marijuana or any other chemical substance that is predominant in our society, or are fighting your own demons as the call to get high becomes louder within you, you need to know that you are not alone. Most of us do not go through our childhood planning on being an addict when we get older.There are many psychological reasons why some people turn to alcohol or drugs. Finding support groups for both you and your loved one will provide extra emotional strength you can lean on when times seem to tough to handle.

You can get your old self back, learn to love yourself again, find those healthy hobbies you used to enjoy, if you only pick up the phone, find a support group online, knock on a friend’s door, or contact your doctor or even a clinic where no one knows you.

A doctor will be able to complete an assessment to help you determine the best treatment plan for you. In some city’s, states or country’s your government may have a system set up where you can get help paying for your treatment if this may be a concern. In some cases, your employer may even have a program set up you can contact to help with your chemical dependency. These programs called EAP, or Employee Assistance Program is discreet and you do not have to worry about losing your job if you seek help with them.

Many companies are realizing that good people can get caught up in situations that lead to chemical dependency but are afraid to seek out help, offering their support gives the addict another means to find the courage to come clean and get on with their lives again.
