Like most things, this particular type of portable laptop comes with its own set of disadvantages too. The small size of the machine has been achieved by sacrificing a few ports and removable disc drives. The keyboard is compact in size with the keys packed closely together. People with large hands will be at a disadvantage when using this otherwise efficient portable laptop model. The battery provided, however, is adequate and can help to run your machine continuously for a period of 2-2.5 hours.

Even with performance and size lesser than conventional laptops, ultra portables usually come with a significant price tag. A case in point can be the Apple Macbook Air which starts at US$–99 and goes all the way up to US$ 2500. Whether the premium is worth paying is an issue under debate.

Today, almost every manufacturer offers some version of an ultra-portable laptop at this range, though some are better and more competitively priced than others. Review the products from Dell, Lenovo, Sony, Compaq, Fujitsu, Apple, IBM, HP, and ASUS. They all offer ultra portable supreme quality laptops.

The most important thing to remember when buying an ultra portable laptop is its intended use. It can never be a replacement for your pc or regular portable laptop. It is too less powerful and small to be a replacement. However, for light processing tasks and a full featured Internet experience on the go, they are a perfect choice.
